RedStorm Basketball Club is a competitive travel team that has been operating for the last 19 years out of Edmonton AB, Canada.
During this time, the RedStorm have seen many of it's graduating players advance to play post secondary basketball nationwide as well as internationally. Of those players, some have moved on to lead professional basketball careers, but what Redstorm wants more than that, is to see all of it's players move on to lead healthy lifestyles mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Those who weather a great storm, will seldom be the same people upon surviving its great power. RedStorm Basketball has always represented transformation, resilience, and youth empowerment. As one of the few clubs in Edmonton run by marginalized people, our club focuses on training marginalized youth. We do not turn players down who are lacking financial support, and we do not scout players based on reputation. We select our players based on respect and hard work, and reward them with the opportunity to showcase their talents on an international platform. Once graduated we offer mentorship opportunities, where young players are able to see the many different manifestations of hard work paying off. RedStorm players are to uphold the following principles.
In victory or defeat we respect our opponents, spectators, referees (whether good or bad), our teammates, and most importantly-- ourselves.
An 'L' is never a loss before it is a lesson. A players perception of what it means to be defeated is the difference between a good player and a great one.
Basketball is much more than a game. It can be a great teacher in overcoming struggles, and the principles players choose to engage with can transfer into many aspects of life well after a baller stops balling.
Doing more than your best can cause burn out, while doing less than your best will leave you wondering 'what if'. Doing exactly your best leaves no regret in victory or defeat.
